Harbour Towne / Robert E. Houston Park Boat Ramp

The Harbour Towne boat ramp is located immediately east of Harbour Towne Marina in Dania. It is also referred to as the Robert E. Houston Park boat ramp, even though the ramps are clearly in Harbour Towne, there is no "park", and local government agencies have no reference to any park named "Robert E. Houston". Robert E. Houston park is another internet urban legend, forward the email to all your friends.

In any case, Harbour Towne has four boat ramps. They are funny little ramps, notched out of the seawall and extending into the parking lot. The ramps are probably two lane, but it's more like 1.75 lanes, I wouldn't want to see two boats in them at once. The ramps are steep but well maintained. The ramps themselves do not have a dock, but there is a dock built parallel to the seawall from which the ramps are carved. There are 70 trailer parking spaces. Parking is $6, collected by security staff riding in golf carts. There is a lot of security here, we saw three carts patrolling the lot regularly. The lot is also open 24 hours.

Given the proximity of the Harbour Towne boat ramp to Port Everglades (it's located at the intersection of the Dania Cutoff Canal and the Intracoastal Waterway), I was very surprised to see how few trailers were here when we visited. We were very pleased with the price, location, and ease of use and will definitely launch from here again.
