Kirby S. Storter Roadside Park is located along Tamiami Trail within the Big Cypress National Preserve. The entrance to the park is nothing impressive - four small picnic pavilions and restrooms - but a 1/2 mile boardwalk winds through one of the finest examples of a cypress swamp that I've seen. The views are stunning, from Spanish moss-laden cypress to open grassy fields, I was swept away by the beauty. The boardwalk is wheelchair-accessible, and there are several resting areas along the way. This is truly a not-to-be-missed experience for an avid nature-lover!
