Lakeside Challenger Park

Lakeside Challenger Park lies on the bank of a small lake on the southern edge of Royal Palm Beach. This quiet park has benches, five gazebos with picnic tables, and a fishing dock, as well as restroom facilities. The park features a memorial to the astronauts who perished aboard the Space Shuttle Challenger, featuring a boulder with accompanying plaque for each of the seven people. My favorite things at this park are the swings - they're not the standard playground sort, but more like free-standing porch swings, spread along the pathway around the lake. I LOVE these silly swings, and often I'll drop by with a book, or even just to close my eyes and feel the motion. Watch out for the ducks if you bring lunch, though - they can be quite aggressive!
