Shepard Park (Shephard Park)
Shepard Park, frequently misspelled as Shephard Park, sits along the St. Lucie River in Jensen Beach. The park has a picnic pavilion, a small playground, picnic tables with grills, and a riverside walkway, but honestly, we usually stop at the parkside docking here while boating to use the restrooms, which are not in such a great state right now (the floors are collapsing). There's also a boat ramp that's a little sketchy. While backing down it, it first acts as if everything will be fine. However, once you've backed in a few feet, you'll discover that the ramp basically flattens out. Our trailer sits very low and has a really long tongue, it was nearly high tide, and we still had to back until water was up to the rear wheels' rims before we could get enough water under the boat.
This ramp has parking for around ten trailers. I doubt you could launch more than a 21 footer here, although the ramp is probably best left for dinghies. (Shepard Park (Shephard Park) continued)
