Technically part of Indian River Veteran's Memorial Park, this ramp is better known as Moore's Creek Boat Ramp. There are roughly 25 trailer spaces and three double-wide ramps with floating docks. The ramp is located less than a mile south of the South Causeway Bridge (Seaway Drive) in Fort Pierce. As is seemingly the case at every ramp in northern St Lucie County, it seems to never be filled anywhere near capacity, even on a weekend during the middle of summer.
Docking and launching is a slight pain, the docks are way too short. You could probably launch up to a 28' here with no problem.
This canal is the outflow for the Ft Pierce Municipal Power Plant and is a manatee haven. The entire ramp is closed from November 15 until March 31.
Despite what other web sites might tell you, I assure you there is no open bathroom either here or at the adjacent Indian River Veterans Memorial Park. I don't know what the cause of the adversarial relationship between Ft Pierce Parks and bathrooms might be, but out of the five or so ramps we've been to in that area, they had some of the worst facilities I've seen in South Florida. At South Causeway Island Park you can see the damn ladies room toilet from the street and there is no door!
No website link because Ft Pierce and St Lucie County's web sites are from like 1994 and don't really have anything on them. I'll bet they spend tens of thousands annually on paper brochures, though.
