County Pines Recreational Complex at Samuel Friedland Park

Located west of West Palm Beach in Loxahatchee, County Pines Recreational Complex At Samuel Friedland Park is a new 75-acre recreational center catering to all of the athletic needs of the western communities. And I do mean ALL! Okay, maybe only most.

Fields for baseball, softball, football, soccer are the main (and really only) draws to this big park, complete with a 15-acre lake. Most of the fields are lighted, and those in use are open until 11:00 PM (the rest of the park closes at sunset). There's even a pressbox! And plenty of restroom facilities.

In addition to the sports fields, there is a jogging/walking path and a large picnic shelter; the picnic pavilion is available for use by reservation only.

I can't find any evidence that "Phase Two" has been completed as of April 2008, but it's slated to include an equestrian area (which we certainly need here given the recent development of the Jim Brandon Equestrian Center - please note sarcasm). Also coming are basketball courts and community center and gymnasium.

Phase one will feature four lighted Little League baseball fields and one lighted Pony League field, two lighted softball fields, and three lighted athletic fields for football and soccer. A large multi-purpose open area, a two-story pressbox complex, and restrooms will complement these sports facilities. Additional amenities will include a jogging path, a group picnic shelter, a 15-acre lake, and parking.

As previously stated, the park is open sunrise to sunset. Lighted fields are open until 11:00 PM when in use; permits are required for use, and obtainable by calling 561-966-6611.
