Crandon Park Beach

Crandon Park Beach Sitting on the edge of the huge Crandon Park is Crandon Park Beach. The beach stretches for two miles, and is frequently named one of the best beaches in the country. The beach has beautiful white sand and is "lagoon-style", meaning it's not affected by the surf, so waves are minimal. There are also picnic areas and concession stands. Next to the beach there is an amusement center with a carousel, a skating rink, and a playground.

One odd feature of this beach is the "cabanas" available for rent - these are really just single small 10x10 rooms in a big box-like concrete building. I guess the main draw is to have someplace to get out of the sun, and each seems to have a private shower.

Beach wheelchairs are available for rent. Parking for over 3000 vehicles is provided. Open sunrise to sunset.
