Dyer Park
Built on an old landfill, this park makes great use of otherwise wasted land. Riding a bike through Dyer Park can be a challenge for a South Floridian, as there are actually hills! It really is a great place for bike-riding, and stopping atop the hills provides a great view of the surrounding areas. The official bike path is just over four miles long. Another area of the park offers mountain biking on a trail a little more than three miles long, and there's also a three and a half-mile equestrian trial. The park has quite a few permit-only sports fields, but there are also areas for public use, like the sand volleyball courts and children's playgrounds. Picnic areas are equipped with grills, and there is also a picnic pavillion available by reservation. I don't know about picnicking or playing on the sports fields here, afterall, when I was a kid this was a dump. Location:7301 Haverhill RdWest Palm Beach FL 33412 561-966-6600 506 acres |
