Lake Ida Park

Lake Ida Park 2008 UPDATE: Lake Ida Park has apparently undergone some renovations, because it's a lot nicer than I remembered! Lots of lakeside picnic tables under big shade trees, a whole bunch of single-table covered picnic stations along the winding paved pathway, and the lake itself was full of jet skis (though not crowded). Plenty of restroom facilities, and a nice rustic-looking bridge over a (somewhat stagnant) drainage pond. There's still construction at the boat ramps, and apparently something going on with one of the dog park areas, but all in all, this park surprised me with how nice it is!

Original Article: This great park is located on the shores of - you guessed it - Lake Ida in Delray Beach. With over 9500 feet of lake shore, the park features water activities such as fishing from the pier, water skiing, and boating - there are two boat ramps and more than forty spaces for trailer parking. In addition, there is a great observation stand overlooking the lake.

Another cool feature of Lake Ida Park is the dog park. There are two fenced areas, one for smaller and one for larger dogs, with a bathing area in between. There are a few benches in each, and some trees. Be careful, though - there are large gates that open to allow lawn equipment access, and a dog as small as a Chihuahua might be able to find a way to escape.

There is a volleyball area, and well as a playground, picnic areas with grills, and two picnic shelter available by reservation only. The Delray Beach Playhouse is also located here.

The Lake Osbourne / Lake Ida chain of lakes offers a variety of fishing opportunities including bass, tilapia, and cichlids. Here is a guide for fishing Lake Ida and the surrounding E-4 canal area.

Open sunrise to sunset.
