Mounts Botanical Garden

Mounts Botanical Garden 2012 Update:

I'm still always amazed to find this little oasis sitting between the DMV and an international airport, but here it is! Mounts Botanical garden has done a great job in recovering from the hurricanes of 2004, and it still provides a sense of calm in the middle of a busy city.

The hours have changed - Monday through Saturday from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM and Sunday from Noon to 4:00 PM. The suggested donation remains $5.

Original Article:

Mounts Botanical Garden, Palm Beach County's oldest botanical park, was terribly damaged by Hurricanes Frances and Jeanne in 2004, but reopened to the public in early 2005. You'd never expect to find this kind of tranquility just across the street from busy international airport runways, but here at Mounts you'll find a vast array of beauty and relaxation. The 14-acre site is home to 18 plant collections from here and abroad, featuring native Florida flora as well as exotic plant life, including a selection of widely varying fruit trees. The Gardens offer a number of workshops and lectures throughout the year and a bi-yearly plant sale that draws visitors from around the state. The specialty book store sells from an enormous collection of horticultural books. Hours are Monday through, Saturday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., and Sunday, 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. Tours will soon resume on the weekends. A $5 donation is suggested.

Mounts Botanical Garden is well-worth a visit, it "feels" much larger than it is, but it's small enough that every square foot is well-groomed and the trip around the paved paths won't kill your feet.

Approximate price: $5.00 per person
