Veteran's Memorial Park at Rivergate

Sitting along the picturesque St. Lucie River lies Veteran's Memorial Park at Rivergate (also known as Rivergate Park). We stop here frequently on our travels down the river from White City Park for a quick walk around the park, and even to run across the street to Jimmy John's for subs. The park's main draw is a spectacular walkway that runs right along the river - it's a popular fishing spot.

We use the courtesy docks at the park, but you can also launch on one of the three boat ramps. There is plentiful parking, but the lot does get crowded on weekends, and the overflow of trailers tends run across the street to the post office parking lot.

There are plenty of picnic tables with grills, and a pavilion, as well as restrooms and a soda vending machine. And wait - you can even play horseshoes here!

The park houses two memorials, one for the veterans of World War II, and a replica of the the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial Wall.

Wildlife viewing is apparently popular here, with claims of sightings of frolicking otters, but I haven't yet witnessed this. As far as scenery goes, I prefer the Spanish-moss-draped oaks at White City Park, but Veteran's Memorial Park at Rivergate is a good launching point for a quicker ride to the St. Lucie Inlet.
