The Yamato Scrub Natural Area is a 217 acre restored natural scrub environment located in southern Palm Beach County. A joint purchase of 217 acres by the state, the county, and the city along with countless hours spent by volunteers resulted in the restoration of this scrub ecosystem, which opened in October 2007. Offering a paved nature trail and a 2.4 mile hiking trail as the sole amenities, this is a park for the serious nature lover. Although primarily scrub, a restored wetlands basin can be seen by following the accessible part of the trail. The 20 acre wetland, originally drained in the 60s, were restored by the removal of 75,000 cubic yards of sand and the planting of thousands of native plants.
Remember, kids, it's going to be ultra hot at this area during the summer. The Yamato Scrub Natural Area is open sunrise to sunset, 7 days a week.
